It may still feel like summer in Pomona and Montclair, but fall fun is already beginning in the nearby mountains. Oak Glen’s official apple season festivities begin Labor Day weekend, making it the perfect time to plan a family day trip filled with apple picking, cider, seasonal treats, and a little escape from the heat.
The 2026 festivities begin September 5-7 and continue through Thanksgiving. Different apple varieties and activities become available throughout the season, so every visit can offer something a little different.

The highlight of apple season is visiting one of Oak Glen’s U-pick orchards. Kids can walk among the trees, choose their own apples, and help fill a bag to bring home. There is something special about eating an apple your family picked together just hours earlier.
Apple varieties and picking availability change as the season progresses. If U-pick apples are the main reason for your visit, contact the orchard or check its social media before making the drive.
Apple picking is only part of the experience. Depending on where you stop, you may find fresh apple pie, warm cider donuts, caramel apples, apple butter, cider slushies, barbecue, and freshly pressed cider.
Many Oak Glen destinations offer more than apple picking. Families may find cider pressing, petting zoos, wagon rides, nature trails, live music, picnic areas, local shops, and other seasonal activities.
The orchards, rustic buildings, changing leaves, and mountain views also create plenty of beautiful spots for fall family photos. You can plan a relaxed orchard visit or turn the trip into a full day of exploring.
For Pomona and Montclair families, Oak Glen makes a fun fall day trip when you are ready for mountain scenery, fresh apples, and a full day of seasonal fun. You can choose a particular orchard before leaving home or simply head toward Oak Glen Road and explore the different farms, shops, and attractions along the way.
